PRIVACY.

The short version

This site has no accounts, no advertising and no profiling. It collects personal information in exactly two places: when you send a message through the contact form, and when you ask the question box something. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

There is also Google Analytics, which counts visits — but only if you agree to it when you are asked. Say no and it never loads. You can change your mind at any time, at the bottom of this page.

Who is responsible

Azlan Raj is the data controller for this site. For anything on this page — including a request to see or delete what is held about you — the contact address is hello@azlanraj.com.

When you use the contact form

The form asks for your name, your email address, your message, and optionally your company. That information is sent directly to Azlan's mailbox by email, through a delivery provider (Resend). It is not written to a database, because this site does not have one.

The lawful basis is legitimate interest: you have contacted a business expecting a reply, and replying requires keeping what you sent. The message lives in the mailbox and is kept while the conversation is live and for as long afterwards as is reasonable for a business enquiry. Ask and it will be deleted.

You get a reply and nothing else. You are not added to a mailing list, because there isn't one.

When you use the question box

What you type is sent to Anthropic's API, which generates the answer. Anthropic processes it to produce a response and it is not used to train models. Nothing you ask is stored by this site, and nothing is tied to you.

One exception, and it is worth stating plainly. If the question box cannot answer your question — because nothing published covers it — the question alone is emailed to Azlan, so the gap can be filled. Nothing else goes with it: not your IP address, not your browser, not anything that could say who asked. If it answered you, nothing is sent at all.

Please do not put confidential or personal information into it. It is a public question box on a marketing website, and it answers from published writing — there is no reason to tell it anything private, and no benefit to you if you do.

Analytics, and only if you say yes

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits — which pages are read, roughly where in the world a visit came from, and whether people arrive from search or a link. It is there to answer whether writing this site was worth the effort, and nothing more is done with it.

It is loaded through Google Tag Manager, which is a container for tags rather than a tag itself. Nothing goes in it that is not described on this page, and if that ever changes this page changes first.

Both load only after you agree. Until you answer the banner, and forever if you answer no, nothing is fetched from Google and no analytics cookie is set. That is stricter than the common approach, which loads the container straight away and waits for permission afterwards — and it matters more with a container than without one, because a container can load anything.

The lawful basis is your consent, because analytics cookies are not strictly necessary and UK law treats them accordingly. Refusing costs you nothing: every part of this site works the same either way.

Google acts as the processor and receives your IP address in order to work out approximate location. GA4 does not store the full address. Google's own privacy policy covers what they do beyond that, and this site does not link analytics to anything you send through the contact form.

What is counted: pages read, calls to action pressed, and whether the contact form was started, sent or failed. Questions typed into the question box are never sent to analytics — only that a question was asked. Nothing recorded identifies you.

The unanswered-question email described above is separate from analytics and happens whether or not you agreed to be counted. It carries the question and nothing else.

To change your mind, use the button at the bottom of this page. It clears the answer and asks again.

Spam prevention and rate limiting

Both the contact form and the question box are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a request comes from a person rather than a script. It processes your IP address and a token from your browser to make that judgement.

Both are also rate limited, which means your IP address is used briefly as a counter so one visitor cannot flood either one. That counter is transient and is not kept.

Hosting

The site runs on Cloudflare Workers. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of a request — IP address, browser, the page asked for — in order to serve it and to protect against attack. That is Cloudflare's processing as much as it is this site's, and it is covered by their own privacy terms.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own, and no advertising tags or third-party trackers of any kind. Two other things can set one. Cloudflare may set a cookie as part of the Turnstile bot check; that one is strictly necessary for the protection to work and does not follow you anywhere. Google Analytics sets its own — but only after you have agreed, and never before.

Your answer to the cookie banner is not itself a cookie. It is kept in your browser's local storage, on your device, and is never sent anywhere.

What this site does not do

Stated plainly, because the absence is the point and it is hard to prove by reading a policy that only describes what does happen:

• No advertising, no pixels, no remarketing tags.
• No analytics unless you agree to it, and nothing loaded from Google before you do.
• No database. Nothing you send is written to one, because the site does not have one.
• No profiling, no scoring, no lists, and nothing sold or shared for marketing.
• No tracking across other sites, by anyone, at any point.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to it being processed, and ask for a copy. Write to hello@azlanraj.com and you will get an answer within a month, usually much sooner.

If you are not satisfied with the response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

When the site changes, this changes with it. The date at the top is the last time that happened.
